  Composting Advice Now Available in Maughold
Information and advice on composting is now available in the parish. Mark Cowley has successfully completed a Master Composting course recently run by Zero Waste Mann and accredited by the Chartered Institute of Waste Management.

Mr Cowley can provide advice and guidance on all aspects of composting and be contacted through the Commissioners on 819690 or maughold@manx.net.

The Commissioners would also like to remind residents that subsidised compostors are still available. Further details can be obtained from the Commissioners.

  Maughold Wins Gold in Island in Bloom 2009!
Maughold has been awarded Gold in the Large Village Section of this year's Island in Bloom Competition. Chairman of the Commissioners and Captain of the Parish, Mrs Hazel Lace CP, received the award on behalf of the Parish at the prize giving ceremony at the Villa Marina on Tuesday 15th September. Laxey were awarded Silver and the Bronze went to Port St Mary.

Awards were also presented to the Headteacher and children from the Dhoon School for the wonderful way in which the school is presented. Special thanks to Mrs MacOwan proprieter of Ballajora Artists who also received a prize in the Business Premises section.

The Commissioners would like to thank all those who have worked so hard in the Parish, particularly at the Arboretum, at the Tram Stops, and the various businesses and private gardens entered this year. A big thank you to all those who assisted with litter picks and other activities to ensure that the Parish was so well presented.

  IRIS Sewerage Strategy Announced
Details of the plans for implementation of the next stage of the IRIS Regional Treatment Strategy have just been announced following approval at July Tynwald. The proposals include new facilities at Port Lewaigue, Maughold Village, Booilushag, Corony and Glen Mona. The Department have advised that they will be contacting the Commissioners in the next weeks to discuss the proposals further. The Commissioners have made frequent representations to government about necessary improvements to the facilities at Port Lewaigue and Booilushag.
