Ongoing Litter and Dog Fouling Problems....
The Commissioners are considering various strategies in response to problems with litter being thrown from vehicles in the Parish. The A2 Coast Road is particularly blighted by this problem and the Commissioners have increased the frequency of litter picks that occur along this highway. Litter, largely in the form of a particular brand of cigarrette packets, is also a problem on the A15 between Port Mooar and Port e Vullen.
Dog fouling on the walkway around Gob ny Rona is causing nuisance to residents and walkers on the coastal footpath. The Commissioners are to consider a range of options in conjunction with the landowners, MNH, and the Department of Infrastructure who are responsible for rights of way.
Legislation is in place which allows for the prosecution of anyone littering or leaving dog faeces in public areas. Please contact the warden on 422148 if you have information that would assist us in keeping Maughold free from litter and dog fouling.
Drainage Problems at Port Lewaigue Car Park
The Commissioners have notified Manx National Heritage of the blocked Gulley under their land at Port Lewaigue. This is sending a large amount of water across the car park area. Officers from MNH were at the site on Thursday 10th February and have advised the Commissioners that they are attending to the problem. The Department of Infrastructure who have responsibility for the coastal path and various retaining walls on the shore have also been notified.
