Dhoon School Daffodils Impress Commissioners!
The Spring Bulb Daffodil competition was judged on Wednesday of this week. Once again the children displayed their horticultural and creative skills. The judges were most impressed. Mrs Sayer judged very expertly, but could only conclude that all the children were winners! Back again for the planting in October! See you then.

Garff Commissioners & Responsibility for Services on Minor Roads...
The Commissioners are now responsible for hedge cutting on the
minor roads in Maughold - The A2 Coast Road remains the responsibility of DoI. Residents
should note that legislation presumes against the cutting of most hedgerows
prior to September the 1
st - except for road safety reasons.
The Commissioners have also taken over road sweeping
responsibilities on minor roads and responsibility for the cleaning of gridded
road gulley pots; please note: responsibility for open roadside ditches remains
with DoI.
Please advise the Commissioners if you notice any matter that requires
attention at maughold@manx.net or on 422148.
Hedge cutting, street and gulley-pot cleaning is currently being delivered
through the Garff Joint Initiative in partnership with Laxey and Lonan; from
the 1
st May 2016 the new Garff Sheading Authority will take direct
responsibility for delivery of these services. New contact details will be
released in due course.
Post Box in Glen Mona will return next week...
The Commissioners have contacted IOM Post seeking information regarding the removal of the post box at the Glen Mona filling station.
IOM Post have issued the following statement to the Commissioners:
The box is having a repair and paint job over this weekend and will be back on
Monday or Tuesday at a location by the bus stop back 50m on the same side.
We will have a notice at the old location to inform the public.
The Commissioners thank IOM Post for their prompt response.
New Bus Timetables from 7th March 2016
Bus Vannin has announced some minor changes to several routes. Most relevant to Maughold residents is the following:
Service 3/3A/X3
Minor changes to intermediate bus stop times.
Revision to Sunday journeys in both directions with increased evening service.

MER - Ballure Bridge Receives More Praise
The £1.2million refurbishment of Ballure Bridge on the Manx Electric Railways has received a second award.
It has now won the Medium Project of the Year category at the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) North West annual awards.
Previously it was named the Project of the Year under 50m Euro winner in the Light Rail Awards 2015. (source gov.im)
Mountain Road to be closed 11th to 23rd April 2016
The A18 Mountain Road will be closed on its sections through Maughold and Lezayre, from the Hairpin to the Creg ny Baa. The closure is for essential maintenance works at the Waterworks and on the Mountain Mile. More information
