Maughold Daffodil Events!
The Daffodils are currently putting on their annual show for those passing along the highways in Maughold. As usual they are providing a stunning accompaniment to a walk or drive in the Parish - currently the best free show on the Island!
Always good to cheer the gloomiest soul and definitely worth looking out for as you pass through.
If nothing else take them as a jaunty merry signpost to the coming summer.
Judging of the Dhoon School Daffodil Competition took place on March the 12th. The children had potted their bulbs in the autumn, and the results, once again, were a joy. Large chocolate eggs were given as prizes for the winners in the Best Daffodil and Best Decorated Pots Sections. The Daffodils being judged by Mrs Hazel Lace CP and Mrs Louise Smith, whilst the pots were judged by Mrs Daphne MacOwan from Ballajora Arts and Crafts.
The judges commented on the excellent number of entries (65) as well as their high quality. As always the behaviour and attitude of the children was excellent throughout the potting stages and throughout the prize ceremony. Thankyou to them and to all staff at the school, particularly the School's Caretaker Mr Phil Quayle.
The Commissioners are now looking forward to launching the 2010 Competition in the autumn of this year.
