Commissioners Request Consultation on any Planning Changes
The Commissioners have resolved to write to the Council of Ministers to request that local authorities are consulted over any proposals to change the planning system to allow those of 'high net worth' to circumnavigate planning controls. Members recognise that the intention is to stimulate the economy by attracting wealthy individuals to take up residence on the Island. However, the Commissioners are keen to ensure that the Maughold landscape is not compromised by any policy change. Members also declared themselves to be opposed to any changes that would set up a planning system that discriminated on the basis of an individuals wealth.
