Commissioners Meet with Government in regard to Sewage
The Commissioners have recently met with Senior Members of the Water and Sewerage Authority in regard to the proposals for IRIS in Maughold. The proposals will mean that emissions into both watercourses and out to the sea will be within be much cleaner. The Commissioners were advised that the emissions would meet EU Standards.

The Commissioners have worked closely with officers from government to ensure that residents concerns are taken into consideration as the new facilities are designed and implemented. The majority of the facilities will be installed underground and will have minimal visual impact.

The Commissioners encourage all residents to contact them for full details of the proposals.

It is expected that public meetings will take place in Maughold Village and in the Dhoon Hall in early November. Full details to be confirmed.

The Commissioners thank Mr Crookall MHK, Chairman of the Water and Sewerage Authority, and Mr Winstanley, Director of Drainage, for bringing their team of Senior Officers and Consultants to Maughold to brief them on progress.

Minister Views Condition of U92 Maughold Mountain Road at First Hand
The DoI Minister, Hon. Phil Gawne MHK, has completed a visit to view the path from the Glen Mona over the Maughold uplands to the Clarum. The Minister was accompanied by Departmental Officers, including Chief Executive, Mr Ian Thompson. The Commissioners have pressed for action to maintain the path and moorland more effectively as exceptionally heavy damage has been caused over recent years; largely due to the increase in its use by off road motorcyclists. The Commissioners will continue to press government for action to maintain the path effectively, and are particularly grateful to the Minister and the Departmental officers for taking the time to accomplish the visit to view the damage at first hand.
