Regional Sewage Treatment Strategy - Update
The Commissioners have received communication from Mr Brian Barnett which provides an update on the proposed improvements to the sewage facilities in Maughold Village, at Port Mooar, and at Port Lewaigue. Mr Barnett advises that a decision has been made to install a new IRBC sewage treatment plant at Port Mooar to serve Booilushag and Maughold Village. Sewage from the village will be conveyed to Port Mooar via a new gravity sewer. Some preparatory ground clearance has taken place at Port Lewaigue where a new IRBC will also be installed. It is anticipated that the works at Maughold on the new sewer will begin in July/August 2013, whilst the works at Port Mooar will begin in September 2013. It is hoped that these facilities will be operational in the first few months of 2014. Due to the bird breeding season works are expected to commence at Port Lewaigue in September and completed by December 2013. The Water and Sewerage Authority have committed to communicate frequently with residents throughout these periods.
